the El Niño exercise in the western ports of Hormozgan Province was held with the goal of enhancing the organization’s preparedness against adverse weather conditions and maritime hazards, as well as assessing the readiness of personnel and operational equipment, in order to identify strengths and areas requiring improvement in the emergency management process.
The Director of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Western Hormozgan, referring to the holding of this drill, stated that during the exercise, the response and performance of operational personnel, the readiness level of equipment and facilities, as well as the speed of action of various units in facing emergency situations, were evaluated.
Amin Sadeghi said that strengthening coordination and cooperation among operational and rescue units was another important focus of this exercise, which plays an effective role in increasing the preparedness of the Western Hormozgan organization for dealing with incidents and adverse weather conditions.
He emphasized that the execution of the El Niño drill provided a suitable opportunity to evaluate existing processes, identify strengths, and address potential shortcomings, and can pave the way for improving the level of readiness and reducing the vulnerability of western Hormozgan ports against maritime and weather hazards. He added that the continued holding of specialized drills and operational exercises is among the important requirements for maintaining the readiness of personnel and equipment and enhancing emergency management capabilities.
Saeed Asadi, Head of Crisis Management, Passive Defense, and HSE of Western Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Directorate, also referred to the focus areas of this drill, stating that during the El Niño drill, the communication and coordination among relevant units, the emergency management process, the reaction speed of operational personnel, and the readiness level of equipment and facilities were evaluated, and the performance of various sectors was reviewed after the conclusion of the exercise.
