Behrouz Aghaei, in a specialized meeting reviewing the status and strategies of the Deputy for Maritime Affairs, held with the presence of Sajjad Sabzivand, Deputy for Maritime Affairs, heads of specialized departments, and experts in this field, described specialized human capital as the main pillar of authority and development of maritime safety in the country, stating: “Imam Khomeini Port Complex, as the hub for essential goods and a strategic center for maritime trade, requires new mechanisms for retaining, motivating, and nurturing specialized elites. Therefore, the Directorate is seriously pursuing the organization of specialized recruitment processes and the updating of welfare and skill infrastructure for maritime personnel.”
Record of Safe Transit for 311 Vessels in Khor Musa
The Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Khuzestan Province, appreciating the round-the-clock readiness of pilotage, maritime operations, and tugboat teams, stated: “Thanks to the specialized knowledge and high sense of responsibility of seafarers and vessel technical control inspectors, over the past five months, the transit and berthing of 311 high-tonnage vessels have been completed without any safety incidents in the Khor Musa channel, demonstrating the high standard of operations at this port.”
Emphasizing the need to formulate an operational plan in the area of succession planning, he added: “Heads of maritime departments are tasked with, through precise identification of skill needs and outlining development horizons, prioritizing the intergenerational transfer of knowledge from veterans to young experts, so that the sustainability of the Directorate’s strategic services is always guaranteed at the highest level.”
Linking University and Industry Through Regional Educational Capacities
Aghaei also emphasized the necessity of utilizing the capacity of vocational schools and higher education centers for marine sciences in the region to ensure a sustainable supply of skilled personnel, stating: “Upgrading maritime training in line with the latest requirements of international conventions (IMO), revising organizational structures, and pursuing special support packages for hard maritime occupations are effective steps that will pave the way for the retention and dynamism of the specialized maritime workforce.”
Continuing this meeting, Sajjad Sabzivand, Deputy for Maritime Affairs of the Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Directorate, while presenting a report on continuous technical monitoring, marine environmental protection, and the comprehensive commitment of personnel to improving maritime standards, emphasized targeted planning until the end of the current year.
